What areas do you serve at A Place of Hope for your Annual Toy Drive? WASHINGTON & DAKOTA COUNTY ONLY.
BIG CHANGE: After 12 years serving four counties, we are now only serving Washington and Dakota County in 2020 and moving forward.
We are no longer a partner with the Marines Toys for Tots program and doing our own local program to serve our own local families with kids to age 18.
We do NOT serve families outside of Washington/Dakota County as there are 200+ agencies for other areas. Please choose an agency closest to you.
Where should I register? Register in your service area for items that you may need. Each agency provides different items. Some provide food, clothing, gift cards and gifts. Others only focus on gifts. Please choose one agency for help this holiday season as many people are in need due to Covid19.
NOTE- MOST AGENCIES CLOSE REGISTRATION BY DECEMBER 5TH EACH YEAR.
When do most agencies stop taking registrations?
By December 5th. If you missed these firm deadlines, contact The Salvation Army at 651-746-3595 for the Emergency Toy Shop. First come, first served.
A Place of Hope MN will stop taking pre-registrations FOR RESIDENTES IN WASHINGTON AND DAKOTA COUNTY on December 7th, 2020 or until max capacity of 350 families.
WHAT IF I DID NOT RECEIVE MY EMAIL WITH THE PICKUP TIME OR I LOST THE INFORMATION?
As soon as you pre-register on our website, you will receive an auto email with more information and your pick up time.
HOW can we register for our children?
Pre-registrations are accepted online only starting late November until early December. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation immediately and then a reminder text or email from A Place of Hope - MN around mid December with your pick up times.
WHEN can I register? Pre-registration will open late November.
BIG CHANGE: We are no longer partnering with the Toys for Tots program. We are running our own local program with local sponsors and local toy teen drives. We are supporting Washington and Dakota County families this year.
How long will it take to get our email confirmation?
You will get an email confirmation immediately when you register using our new form online with your assigned pick up times for mid December. If you register via phone, it may take 2-3 days to receive an email or text from one of our volunteers. Thanks for your patience as we are all volunteers.
What if I don't have access to a computer for online registration?
It is faster and more efficient if you can register online. We are serving over 300 families and request that registrations be done online.
If you are not able to, a phone registration number is 612-314-9904.
How many toys can we get for each child?
This depends on how many toys we collect with our own toy drives. Usually it is one main present per child and a stocking stuffer.
We also do our best to provide books, crafts, board games and sports equipment for families with 4 or more kids.
WHEN do we pick up the toys?
In your CONFIRMATION EMAIL that you receive immediately after submitting your pre-registration, you will be assigned a pick up time with instructions of when and where to pick up your toys mid December at the Hope Church in Oakdale, MN.
We DO NOT mail out anything to you - only email or text, so be sure to check your spam and junk email folders. Thanks.
WHERE do we pick up the toys?
To be determined for 2020. The last few years we distributed toys at HOPE CHURCH AT 7910 15TH STREET NORTH, OAKDALE MN.
What do I need to BRING to the pick up?
A photo id for you and any kind of id for each of your children. (social security card, school id, insurance card). Photo Copies are fine.
What if I cannot make it to the pick up times?
You can send a spouse or relative to pick up for you. You must contact us to let us know. Otherwise, we cannot hold toys for you.
You are also given an alternative time in your pick up time email to come in on Saturday morning.
What ages can I register for my kids? Baby to 18
Infant to age 18 years of age. You must be the parent or legal guardian in order to register them.
Will I receive anything in the mail? NO
No, we do not mail any registration confirmations. Only send emails and texts. Please check your junk box and our website for updates on dates.
Can I register my grandkids? NO
Only children in your custody or that you are a legal guardian for can be registered with us. We do not have enough toys to help grandparents.
Can we pick out our own toys? YES
Yes, a personal shopper will help you choose toys from the table for your age group for each child.
Where does A Place of Hope get the toys?
As of 2020, we are no longer partnering with the Marines program. We will now get toys from local toy toy drives and sponsors.
Donate local, All Toys STAY LOCAL!
What if we don't register in time by the deadline?
You will need to contact your local church, United Way or Salvation Army for assistance IF YOU MISS THAT FIRM DEADLINE.
Is there a toy shortage each year?
Yes, each year we struggle to fill the amount of orders and demand for families in need. We have expanded our local toy drives and sponsors this year to help with the shortages - especially for the older kids 11-18.
How can I help support this great cause?
We need volunteers to help for 2-3 hours up to serving on our planning committee. We also greatly need stocking stuffers and toys for the older kids
13-18 years of age. See our Get involved page for more ways to help.
